The site is located beside Taiwan’s Shimen Reservoir, facing the reservoir’s lake views and layered mountain mists—a landscape of exceptional beauty, surrounded by a complete and rich natural ecosystem.
[With Such Stunning Natural Scenery, Why Say More?]
Nestled within such splendid natural scenery, the building’s design ought to intervene in the environment with a humble and restrained posture. We envisioned the building itself as quiet, placed within and integrated into its surroundings, allowing people inside to silently experience the seasonal changes of nature throughout the year and share this natural space with other ecological species living here.
For the architectural facade design, we simply extended horizontal lines, aiming to reduce the perceived height of the building volume and create a stronger horizontal connection with the environment. The facade form is extremely simple yet full of layers of void and solid, greatly minimizing the visual pressure exerted by the building’s scale on the surroundings.
[Feature of the Landscape Architecture - Landscape Balconies]
At the initial design stage, we proposed to the developer that ample landscape balconies be planned for each unit to enhance the project’s resort and leisure landscape characteristics. Through the provision of landscape balconies, residents can step directly from the interior to the outdoors, taking in the ever-changing seasonal scenery in front of the site. The subtle relationship between humans and nature is also fostered through a profound psychological connection via these balconies. Architecture is not merely a container for life; it is an excellent medium for coexistence between humans and nature.
